Qatar Airways announced a sudden and immediately effective replacement of its CEO at the weekend.
Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, who has been in the post for only two years since the retirement of Akbar Al Baker, has been replaced by Hamad Ali Al‑Khater, COO of Hamad International Airport.
No information is available on why the CEO was suddenly ousted, but the news may be welcomed by some. One cargo customer, currently negotiating next year’s capacity with the carrier, told The Loadstar it had been tough this year.
“We are hearing of internal fights, people leaving; it’s been difficult talking to them for a few months. They are normally great, but it’s been more difficult this year.”
The Aviation Hub reports.
