No doubt security has been further reinforced since the tragic events in Paris on Friday night – which could make Calais even more dangerous for lorry drivers. Hauliers have reported increasing frustration among migrants trying to enter the UK has led to them attacking lorries and rioting. The UK RHA has warned that someone will be killed unless there is more security on the port approach roads, where migrants have been throwing rocks at truck windscreens. CEO Richard Burnett said: “This has become an absolutely untenable situation. We are now getting reports of extreme violent migrant activity on a daily basis.”
