Lithuanian road transport group Girteka Logistics has appointed Pavel Kveten (above) as its new chief executive.
The move represents a return to Girteka for Mr Kveten, who spent more than 10 years at the company, latterly in the role of chief operating officer.
He then spent three years as CEO of fellow Lithuanian road freight operator Everwest, where he expanded its business into new markets such as China and Kazakhstan.
His return to Girteka was prompted by the departure of Jeroen Eijsink, recently appointed CEO of Hamburg terminal operator HHLA. After Mr Eijsink’s departure, Edvardas Liachovičius was named Girteka chief executive on a temporary basis.
“Our goal is clear – to remain at the forefront of the European logistics sector and to operate profitably,” Mr Liachovičius said. “Entering the coming year, it is crucial to have a leader with extensive industry experience and a strong results-driven mindset. For this reason, we are delighted that Pavel Kveten is returning to our team.
“His energy and experience give us a solid foundation for the next stage of our growth,” he added.
Mr Kveten took up his new post on 1 December. he said: “Coming back to Girteka after three years I can feel the same drive, dedication, and sense of teamwork that have been the foundation of this organisation for many years.
“My goal is to further transform the company’s already efficient and continuously improved resources into even greater value for customers, employees, and the business.
“The stability needed for us to remain the first choice in the market comes from working not only as a single united team but as a team that sees the customer as an essential partner,” he added.
