CSX has appointed Mark Wallace (pictured) as executive vice president for sales and marketing, with Diana Sorfleet stepping into the role vacated by Mr Wallace.
Having joined the US rail operator in March 2017 as chief of staff, Mr Wallace became chief administrative officer in January.
He came to CSX from Canadian Pacific, where he also served as chief of staff, a role he was appointed to in July 2012. Prior to that he spent more than 15 years at Canadian National (CN), serving in a raft of senior management positions.
CSX chief executive James Foote said he was familiar with Mr Wallace’s approach to business, as they had worked together at CN.
“Mark worked side-by-side with Hunter Harrison for 20 years and has the strategic vision and executive leadership abilities to effectively drive the next phase of growth for CSX.”
Mr Foote also expressed delight that Ms Sorfleet would be taking over as chief administrative officer.
He added: “From my first day at CSX, she’s played an invaluable role in helping me and the team drive the organisation forward in our transformational journey.”
Ms Sorfleet joined CSX from Exelon in 2011.
