Freight software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider Kontainers has expanded the modal offering of its flagship Enterprise platform to include trucking and air freight for its largest customers.

The platform, which is designed for the largest freight forwarders and carriers, has been expanded beyond the ocean freight sector to include self-service instant rates, booking, customs, air freight, trucking, FCL/LCL, global schedules, B/Ls [bills of lading], chat support, dashboard analytics, payment system and a full back office application.

Interestingly, it is likely to see deepsea shipping lines able to offer air freight rates and air cargo options to their ocean freight customers, as well as inland trucking routes out of ports to consignees distribution facilities.

“As we enter a new decade, it is clear that a significant amount of freight will be purchased and transacted digitally” said Graham Parker, Kontainers chief executive.

“Enterprise now offers a total digital freight buying and selling experience with this upgrade, as even more modes of transport are possible.”

He added: “Furthermore, we are delighted to announce that Enterprise clients will now have the ability to offer a unique digital experience in every country by customising the platform on a per country level basis and testing new features in different geographies.

“Large carrier and forwarder customers will experience a different look, feel and set of experiences when logging in from every country in the world,” he added.

Kontainers offers three digital platforms for global shipping brands:  Enterprise, for large brands; Edge, for mid-size logistics and freight forwarding businesses; and Essential, for small forwarders.
