German forwarder DB Schenker says it is building a leadership team that will take it into the future, with the appointment of new head of contract logistics Hessel Verhage and new CFO Jakob Wegge-Larsen.

Denmark-born Mr Wegge-Larsen is currently CFO and senior VP of ocean & logistics at Maersk Group, where he was responsible for the integration of the Hamburg Süd group. He will join DB Schenker on 1 March 2023.

Oliver Seidl, the current CFO, will remain in post until 31 December, after which he will leave DB Schenker, “on the best of terms”, says the company, to focus on new responsibilities.

Mr Verhage, who has over 26 years’ experience in logistics, has been responsible for the company’s development as EVP global strategy and transformation, will join the management board, taking on the contract logistics role in addition to his current responsibilities.

He joined DB Schenker in August 2019 as CEO for the Americas, with responsibility for DB Schenker’s business in 24 countries. He was promoted to his current role at the beginning of this year.

“With this new management board team, Schenker is positioning itself to meet global changes in the logistics industry, which have required the business to constantly evolve,” said Dr Levin Holle, chairman of Schenker.
