Following on from DVZ’s interview with the Hapag-Lloyd chief, who said the simplest solution for the shipping line was a merger with Hamburg Sud, JOC reports that Hapag is now encouraging its local rival to join the merger talks with CSAV too. Meanwhile, Drewry’s analysis of the proposed CSAV deal shows it “ticks a lot of boxes” for both lines – although it could be hard to come up with a financial agreement, it notes. No doubt that would be even more complicated if Hamburg Sud did show some interest.
