Earlier this year The Loadstar interviewed Luc Jacobs, svp ocean freight, and head of global FCLs. He said the German forwarder was examining the methodology that might be used to form index-linked contracts.
He pointed out that since the end of conferences, there has been far greater volatility, to the detriment of the whole industry, which urgently needs some balance. But, he warned, it couldn’t become a financial markets tool – it has to be for, and created by, the freight industry.
