President and CEO of FedEx Express Don Colleran on Friday wrote:
Today it was announced that I will retire from FedEx as of December 31, 2022. It is difficult to leave a place that has meant so much to me for nearly four decades, and I want to take a moment to thank the more than 600,000 team members who I will always consider my FedEx family.
As I look back on my career, I will cherish many memories including living and working internationally in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Toronto while working closely with FedEx customers who depend on our services to support their livelihood. I have also had the privilege of working on the frontlines of our operations alongside some of the most incredible people, many of which have blessed me with life lessons and friendships for which I can never repay.
I know FedEx Express will be in incredibly capable hands with my successor, Richard W. Smith, and I look forward to continuing to work with him over the coming months. I will end this post with the wise words of Confucius:
“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
After almost 40 years, I have still loved going to work each and every day. For that, I am forever grateful.
Sincerely,
Don
