Another senior ex-DB Schenker executive has found a new role after German 3PL and road freight operator Dachser announced this morning that it has appointed Alexander Winter (above) as its managing director for the EMEA region in its Air & Sea Logistics freight forwarding division.

He will assume his new role on 1 October, succeeding Marc Meier, who is joining French 3PL Geodis as managing director of its Germany-Austria-Switzerland region on the same day, The Loadstar reported earlier this week.

The 53-year-old Mr Winter, joined DB Schneker in 1999 and held various management positions “with a focus on sea freight and contract logistics”.

In 2018 he was named DB Schenker’s chief executive of the Austria and south-east Europe region, responsible for air and sea freight, road transport, and contract logistics.

In his new role he will report to Dachser’s Air & Sea Logistics chief operating officer Tobias Burger.

“With Alexander Winter, we have gained a leader with extensive experience in the international logistics business for Dachser,” Dr Burger said.

“In his successful career, he has proven that he can develop local markets in a customer-oriented manner and set them up to be operationally efficient.”

Dachser group chief executive Burkhard Eling added: “In our core markets of Europe in particular, we need a strong air and sea freight organisation that drives growth with globally integrated end-to-end transport and contract logistics.

“With his extensive logistics and management experience, Alexander Winter has what it takes to take the close connection with our European groupage network to a new level,” he said.
