Amaury Valicon

French 3PL Geodis has appointed Amaury Valicon (above) as its new executive VP for Europe.

He will start in his new role on 1 November, replacing Thomas Kraus.

Mr Valicon first joined Geodis’ parent company SNCF in 2004 as part of its M&A team, and then moved to the finance department of SNCF Logistics in 2011, becoming chief financial officer of the unit in 2014.

In January 2018, he was named group chief financial officer of Geodis, and at the start of 2023 he became the group’s chief operations officer – performance improvement.

Additionally, Geodis has also hired freight forwarding veteran Marc Meier (below) as managing director of its Germany-Austria-Switzerland region.

Mr Meier was most recently Dachser’s managing director for air and sea logistics in the EMEA region and will join the French firm on 1 October.

Geodis has also named a new managing director of its Italian operations – the former Maersk executive Maurizio Bortolan (below).

Also assuming his new role on 1 October, Mr Bortolan was most recently chief strategy officer at Geopost’s Italian subsidiary BRT.

Mr Meier and Mr Bortolan will report directly to Mr Valicon.

These latest changes come on the back of Geodis yesterday announcing the appointment of a new CFO and the launch of a dedicated AI department.
