The Loadstar covered the bankruptcy of UK haulage firm Deben Transport some five years ago, leaving scores of creditors, including many employees with unpaid salaries, with a toal bill of some £7.6m still outstanding. However, according to local paper The East Anglian Daily Times its administrators believe creditors now may be able to recoup these funds through the ongoing truck cartel class action being brought by the Road Haulage Association on behalf of the industry against a group of European truck manufacturers that were found guilty by the European Commission of artificially fixing the prices of newly built trucks: “This action may lead to a significant realisation which, depending on the extent of such an award could result in full repayment to the secured creditors, as well as a potential return to both the preferential and unsecured creditors.”
