By 2013, in terms of its own infrastructure, China had already achieved a lot.

New subway lines in top-tier cities kept opening almost weekly. The high-speed rail network started to take shape and, to actively compete with flights on many connections, also the national highway network grew constantly while the country already boasted the leading ports in the world.
