London’s airports are constantly in the news in the UK as the future of Britain’s airport capacity comes under scrutiny. Heathrow, the most likely candidate for expansion, has been told to cap its fees, however, after it asked for a tariff rise 4.6% above inflation. The CAA argued that such a rise would jeopardise its competitive position, while Heathrow claims that to be underfunded does the same thing. Airlines, however, are pleased.
