Total volume exported to the Middle East by Brazilian poultry producers increased by 3.7% in 2013, reports the Brazil-Arab New Agency, despite a drop in the number of overall shipments. Saudi Arabia and the UAE remain Brazil’s biggest buyers, having imported 244,000 tons last year, and Brazilian sources said that the Middle East had become a strategic market for South American producers, enhance by their following strict halal slaughtering procedures.
