UK food retail giant Asda will redistribute all surplus stock from its supply chain to 910 national charities under the terms of a new partnership with food charity FareShare, the retailer has announced. The new supply chain model will see an extra 1,500 tonnes of chilled food sent to FareShare every year, increasing the charity’s current food volumes by 41% and providing an extra 3.6 million meals. Asda is also investing £100,000 in FareShare’s depot, transport and logistics network.
