AMI – the world’s largest trade-only airfreight and express wholesaler – has extended its unique click2ship service to its South African operations, enabling freight agents to obtain online, all-inclusive quotations for shipments, including collection and delivery; these can subsequently be converted to bookings. Various additional services such as insurance can also be booked online.
click2ship was first launched in AMI’s UK business in 2010, and parallel services have since been launched throughout its Australian, South Pacific and Americas networks.
In South Africa, AMI click2ship is initially available for export shipments up to 200kg, to any non-restricted worldwide destination; only dangerous goods are excluded. Having booked their shipments online, freight agents also have online access to track and trace information 24/7.
Says AMI’s VP Africa, Milton French: “The increasingly sophisticated freight industry in South Africa is ready for this service, which combines very competitive rates with the ability to obtain fast, accurate quotations. This can often make the difference between an agent winning or losing potential business.”
