After what couldn’t have been a firmer denial from Deutsche Post-DHL chief executive Frank Appel that the company had been in talks to sell its DHL Global Forwarding arm… Japan Post, the rumoured buyer, has revealed that it has a $12bn warchest for purchases after entering the general logistics market with it $4.1bn acquisition of the Australia’s Toll Holdings last year. But just the fact that it said targets would “not be limited to logistics”, implies just how much they are looking at the sector, as it looks to offset diminishing postal volumes.
