The latest on self-driving vehicles from the highly recommended Quartz. This week Google filed a US patent for a driverless delivery van with “lockers that could potentially be unlocked with a PIN code sent to the person waiting for the delivery”, or perhaps opened by swiping a credit card. Once the consumer has emptied the locker, the van would drive on to the next address. The patent brings together two projects the company is working on: the development of driverless cars and the Project Wing drone delivery programme it hopes to launch next year.
