The US Federal Maritime Commission has released its report into the port congestion crisis that crippled container supply chains for a six-month period dating back to last year and which cost the world’s largest economy billions of dollars. Following sustained consultation with ports, carriers, logistics operators and cargo owners, the FMC concluded – presumably to no one’s surprise – that the congestion was the result of a confluence of factors… More tantalisingly however, it has recommended that a supply chain advisory council made up of stakeholders be created to advise the FMC on congestion, going forward.
