It now looks as if the Volga-Dnepr group will be broken down into parts – quite literally. According to Russian media, Aeroflot will buy six 737-800BCFs, which were operated by Volga’s domestic carrier Atran, as well as two 747-400Fs from AirBridgeCargo, in a deal said to be worth $130m. Aeroflot is expected to use the planes for parts, as its struggles for Boeing supplies under sanctions.

Volga-Dnepr is understood to have finalised an insurance settlement with Irish lessor AerCap for the aircraft, which Aeroflot will get for something of a bargain. The deal – and aircraft – are understood to be separate from the offer by former Red Wings CEO Evgeny Solodilin for the remaining Volga-Dnepr, Atran and ABC fleet.
