In China, FedEx and UPS wait for regulators to renew permits

China and its seemingly insatiable appetite for e-commerce ought to be an express operator’s dream, but with international operators now having to obtain a licence to operate in individual cities, it is fast turning into something of a nightmare for FedEx and UPS. While Chinese regulators appear to dither over granting them new licences – neither yet has one to operate in Beijing – there are no such delays for domestic operators, which are rapidly building up market share over their larger rivals.
