The port complex of Los Angeles and Long Beach is to receive about $840m in funding for infrastructure improvements – ironically just as throughput is down to near-record lows.

The state of California is poised to spend $1.2bn to fund port and supply chain upgrades to remedy the congestion and disruptions that hindered cargo flows through the US’s premier gateway for ocean freight.
