In June 2020, the average delivery speed of cargo as a whole throughout the Russian Railways network increased to 453.7 km per day, which is 16.4% higher than the same period last year. The reliability of delivery (shipments arriving on time) was 99%, which is 0.9 percentage points higher than in June 2019.
With a transportation range of more than 2,600 km, the average speed of freight increased to 615.6 km per day, which is 13.9% higher than in the same period last year. The accelerated long-distance shipping is due transportation routing, less time spent on shunting, and an extension of secured sections on which freight-car inspections don’t have to take place en route.
The average speed of China-Europe transit container trains on Russian Railways infrastructure (Kartaly-Krasnoye section) in June reached 1327.8 km per day (28.8% higher than a year earlier).
In the first half of 2020, the average delivery speed of shipments to Russian Railways networks amounted to 445.1 km per day, which is 9.8% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, the reliability of delivery reached 99.5% (for the first six months of 2019 it was 98.4%).
