Hong Kong Airport was brought to a standstill today when protestors beseiged its main terminal. Air Cargo News reports that all flights for which passengers had yet to check in had been cancelled, with Cathay Pacific cancelling all flights until tomorrow morning. Thousands of protesters have entered the terminal over the past four days and the cancellations will have a knock-on impact on cargo with belly capacity significantly reduced. The protests surround an extradition bill, allowing prisoners to be transferred to facilities in mainland China, which the local government attempted to push through earlier in the year.

August 12, 2019 at 6:14 pmSaying protestors were laying siege is basically communist party level propaganda. They stood in the departure halls and arrivals and waved a few placards, then they left. Yes the airport closed, but there was no trouble, no damage and no siege! Be more responsible in the language you use. You have the freedom to say what you want – the people of Hong King are trying to ensure they can do the same.
