It happened in Louisville, Kentucky on November 4, 2025.
UPS Flight 2976, an MD-11 freighter, is beginning its takeoff roll from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport heading for Honolulu. Moments after acceleration, the aircraft’s left engine and pylon assembly separated from the wing, trailing fire, as the jet briefly lifted before crashing into an industrial area beyond the runway. The impact killed 14 people – all 3 crew members aboard, 11 on the ground, and injured others.
