The latest senior executive exit from DB Schenker following its takeover by DSV is veteran freight forwarder Peter Nordstrom (above), who was today named as the new chief executive for German forwarder Rhenus’s Air & Ocean division in North America
“With a proven track record of more than 25 years of international experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, and supply chain management industry, Peter has led successful transformational projects, improved operational performance and accelerated growth across the Americas, Europe, and Asia,” Rhenus said in a statement.
Most recently, Mr Nordstrom was executive VP for ocean freight for North America at DB Schenker, a position he held for over five years.
Prior to that, he held senior positions at Ceva Logistics, Geodis and Kuehne + Nagel, mostly in the ocean freight divisions.
In his new role he will “ensure strategic alignment with the global Air & Ocean strategy and lead organisational growth in Canada and the United States”, and will will report directly to Jan Harnish, a member of the Rhenus board for Air & Ocean.
“We are pleased to welcome Peter to the Rhenus group,” Mr Harnish said. “North America is a vital region for the organisation and plays an important role in our industry as it serves as a connection to global trade, especially in today’s market landscape.
“Strong leadership experience like Peter’s will enhance our market position across the region, driving the next phase of growth and new opportunities to develop. I’m confident he will continue to strengthen our market position and expand our footprint across the region,” he added.
Mr Nordstrom said: “I am honoured to join the Rhenus organisation and oversee its Air & Ocean division in North America.
“North America is a key region for the global supply chain. As customer expectations continue to evolve, we will remain focused on adapting and delivering solutions that meet the demands of today’s evolving market across the region,” he added.
