OceanX: India Shining + freight rate horror stories = crumbs of comfort
Optimism or realism?
India’s grain stockpile is as much as 12 times more than the government’s target, at around 50 million tonnes and yet a large amount of that is simply rotting away because of inadequate storage facilities. This in a country where something like 40% of the population – the supposed beneficiary of the stockpiled grain – is under the poverty line. A shameful episode of logistics completely failing those who most need it to work efficiently.
