Plans to break the ongoing slot storm at Schiphol will debated next month, with the airport’s carriers taking the discussion of the proposed “local rule” to the Coordination Committee Netherlands. Air Cargo News reports the “extraordinary meeting” will be held on 14 December, having been requested by outgoing secretary of state for infrastructure in the Netherlands, Sharon Dijksma. Should it pass, the “local rule” would allow the airport’s slot coordinator to allocate carrier slots, mitigating the shortages that led some cargo operators to withdraw or curtail services at Schiphol.
