Anne-Sophie Zerlang Karlsen moves up at Maersk

Anne-Sophie Zerlang Karlsen has been appointed chief of staff to CEO of Danish shipping line Maersk Vincent Clerc, and takes up her new role, based in Copenhagen, on 1 September. 

Having been at the company since 2003, she is currently Maersk’s VP and head of operations Asia Pacific. 

Ms Zerlang Karlsen said: “My years in Shanghai have profoundly changed me; I have learned so much from my incredible team, our partners and customers, from my amazing friends, and everyone I have met on the way.

“I’m super excited for this next part of my blue journey. I feel a lot of new learning, experiences, challenges, and fun coming my way.” 

Ms Zerlang Karlsen is also a board member and vice chair of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China, a position she has held since 2023.  

She began her career with the Danish shipping giant on its two-year graduate programme in the finance stream and has held various positions since, including line manager on the transatlantic trade, trade director of Latin America-Europe and the Middle East, and head of global reefer solutions.
