American Airlines Cargo saw operating revenues fall 7.9% in 2016 over 2015, but the final quarter of the year saw a boost of 1.3%. The carrier, which has admitted to chasing market share in some regions, saw cargo ton-miles rise 4.7% in 2016 – but yields per ton-mile, in line with much of the industry – fell 12%. The carrier overall enjoyed a full-year 2016 pre-tax profit of $4.3bn, and net profit of $2.7bn, on operating revenues of $40.1bn, down from $40.9bn the pervious year.
