Amazon has temporarily closed its distribution centres in France after a court ruled it must stop non-essential deliveries – or face a fine of €1m per day. Following concerns from unions, the court also told the company to carry out a Covid assessment of its warehouses. Amazon said it had already implemented safety measures and said it was “perplexed” by the ruling.
The news comes as DHL came under a barrage of criticism for its treatment of workers, and safety during Covid-19, from the GMB union.
