UK Major Ports Group (UKMPG), the trade association for the UK’s largest port operators, has appointed Alex Pepper (above) to the new role of senior policy lead, focused on environment, social and governance matters.
She will join UKMPG next month, arriving from Peel Ports, where her most recent role was as group head of energy and environment.
Prior to joining Peel Ports, Ms Pepper worked at Associated British Ports, and altogether she has over 15 years’ experience in energy, environment and sustainability roles with a focus on ports and maritime.
“We’re delighted that Alex is joining us,” said Tim Morris UKMPG CEO. “The environment, social and governance policy areas are of critical importance to UKMPG members, their customers and investors. They are areas where UKMPG and its members are committed to making real, positive change.
“The depth of Alex’s experience – both in the policy areas themselves – and in the ports sector more generally will be a huge boost to UKMPG’s work on the ESG agenda,” he added.
“I’m excited to be joining UKMPG. There’s a huge agenda to work on, with fundamental change occurring across all aspects of the ESG agenda,” Ms Pepper said.
“It’s essential that ports stay on top of the evolving, significant requirements and their implications. The UK’s ports industry is a vital, proactive and responsible sector and a has strong story to tell,” she added.
