IATA has announced the finalists of its Air Cargo Innovation Awards, with developments in ULDs getting the most attention.
The three shortlisted finalists will present their submissions at next month’s World Cargo Symposium, with a jury deciding the winner.
Together with Cargo Composite, Air New Zealand Cargo (ANZ) was selected for its new thermally-insulated ULDs. According to ANZ, its Aero Therm container insulates “25 times better” than existing ULDs.
A project made up on Sita, Safran and Champ focused on track and trace, and developed a smart ULD system that utilises IoT and blockchain technology to monitor shipments.
Finally, Unilode Aviation Solutions launched its own tracking solution based on IoT technology, which it claims provides shipment transparency across the whole supply chain.
