US agricultural exporters, particularly those in the Midwest, are really getting it in the neck at the moment. The strike at LA-Long Beach is holding up shipments; a threatened strike at the US east and Gulf coast ports could see them hit with massive surcharges; and now a key artery to Gulf coast ports, the Mississippi – Old Man River himself – could be shut because of drought. Whatever next?
