The UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) has appointed Anne McIntosh as its new honorary president.
Baroness McIntosh replaces Ivon Moore-Brabazon, who steps down after more than a quarter of a century.
A former member of parliament, Ms McIntosh represented the constituencies of Thirsk and Malton and Vale of York, later serving as an MEP before being given a life peerage in 2015.
The chief executive of UKWA, Peter Ward, said the association was indebted to Mr Moore-Brabazon and was delighted at Ms McIntosh’s appointment.
He added: “I very much look forward to working with Baroness McIntosh and am confident that she will make an extremely valuable contribution to the association as we strive to ensure that UKWA continues to serve its membership well.”
Baroness McIntosh said it was a “vibrant time” for the logistics industry.
“The world is going through a period of change, which is bringing a unique set of challenges yet extraordinary opportunities to the sector. UKWA’s ability to broker trusted information between members and policy makers means that the role of the association as the voice of the logistics industry has never been more significant.”
