It’s not often that the transport and logistics industry finds itself in the eye of the news storm, but after Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria, the island’s reliance on external supply chains for its basic supplies has been disastrously exposed. Cue lots of arguing over waiving the Jones Act, as well as the limpid response from Donald Trump. And then came the fake news, as admirably exposed by the Pundifact site, which has pulled apart some serious misinformation cobbled together from half-baked stories and out-of-context quotes. It’s pretty egregious stuff.
