October 13, 2016 at 1:43 pmThorsten Meincke has got it right. It is not just the fancy technology but having the networks and people who can react to individual situations. Forwarding is more than pricing the shipment on line.

October 13, 2016 at 2:26 pmMr Meincke is correct – so far the techies have not come up with anything that is currently not on offer. In fact many of them just make the process more complicated. maybe something as simple as https://prototype.agreefreight.com/ will work, which is only a prototype showing Asia Europe actual sailings. The website opens in three weeks – let’s see if the market is ready for transparency, agree a rate in seconds and book. I hope for the sake of me and my savings it is, if so LCL and AIR will follow.
If not I will be looking for job in Walmart.

October 13, 2016 at 2:27 pmMaybe if the customer has to fill out a lot of forms, you are actually doing something wrong.
In the end, not a lot of information is required to book a standard container on the major tradelanes.

October 13, 2016 at 3:50 pmI agree that with Mr. Meincke that Tech as a sales/booking tool will not be disruptive. Where tech will change the industry is PO level visibility across the chain. Forwarders need to invest or die.
