The express and freight giant United Parcel Services saw revenues up year-on-year and expects full-year shipments to increase by a double-digit figure as e-commerce volumes continue to grow sharply. Like fierce rival FedEx, it has introduced volumetric pricing across its modes as a way of tackling the weaker pricing of e-commerce shipments, with online retailers offering cheaper shipping rates for products that come in larger, lighter and lower-density packaging.
