Amadou Diallo and Tobias Maier

DHL Global Forwarding has announced that Tobias Maier (pictured right) will become CEO for the Middle East & Africa region, effective 1 December.

He will succeed Amadou Diallo (pictured left), who is leaving after 30 years with the DHL group to become CEO of logistics company Aramex, on 1 May.

Mr Maier boasts a wealth of experience in finance, digital innovation, and strategic growth. Since joining DHL in 2008, he has held several leadership positions, most recently as CFO for the Middle East & Africa region and CEO of DHL’s digital freight platform, Saloodo!, for that region.

He has been a key part of driving regional M&A activities for DHL across key markets such as Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Ethiopia and the UAE, and establishing initiatives such as DHL’s RailDirect joint venture with Etihad Rail.

Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Freight said: “Tobias is a forward-thinking leader with a strong track record of delivering results and driving innovation. His deep understanding of the region and commitment to digital transformation make him the ideal choice to lead our business into its next chapter.”

Mr de Bok added that he was “deeply grateful” to Mr Diallo for his tenure. “His vision and passion have left an indelible mark on our organisation,” he said.

Since taking the helm in 2017, Mr Diallo has significantly expanded DHL Global Forwarding’s presence across the Middle East and Africa, championed sustainable logistics solutions, and oversaw a period of significant investment in these markets.

In over 30 years of international logistics and finance leadership roles within DHL Group, his titles have included CEO, DHL Freight and CEO for DHL Global Forwarding in different regions such as South Asia Pacific.

Until Mr Diallo formally assumes his new role at Aramex next May, Nicolas Sibuet will continue as acting group CEO.
