Maersk Air Cargo is the latest beneficiary of the deluge of managers leaving DB Schenker, following its takeover by DSV.
Christoph Hemmann (pictured left) becomes head of global air and LCL, and joins the global leadership team in logistics and services. He takes over from Murali Rajamani, who has transferred elsewhere in the group. Mr Hemmann joins from DB Schenker, where he spent more than six years, most recently as EVP head of airfreight Asia Pacific. Prior to that he spent some seven years at DHL Global Forwarding.
John McDonald (pictured right) becomes head of Maersk air freight forwarding, taking over from John Wetherell, who is currently on gardening leave following his decision to quit Maersk in July. Mr McDonald joins from Schenker, where he spent more than five years, most latterly as EVP – Americas. Prior to that he held roles at STG Logistics, UTi and Ceva.
“Christoph and John both possess extensive leadership experience in the Global Air Freight business and have led global teams to success with their previous companies. We are excited to get their deep industry expertise enhancing our Air business and adding further commercial value to our customers”, says Narin Phol, executive vice president and chief product officer for Logistics and Services.
Mr Hemmann will also be responsible for Maersk Air Cargo’s fleet of 18 767Fs and two new 777Fs.
Swathes of managers are leaving DB Schenker as it integrates with DSV, with Kuehne + Nagel in particular picking up some high level managers.
