German project cargo logistics specialist Bertling has launched a new joint-venture in Saudi Arabia with local firm Al Khaldi, and has appointed Adel El Said as operations director.
Al Khaldi-Bertling Logistics will open for business on 1 February in the newly constructed Al Khaldi business tower in Al Khobar. It will target the oil & gas sector, the broader developing energy industries and non-oil sector.
Mr El Said has 20 years’ experience of the Saudi logistics market, having joined from ATCO Group, where he most recently held the position of managing director of East & West Express, a Dammam-based subsidiary.
Before that he lived in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and established and ran Panalpina’s Saudi Arabian office and built up the local project portfolio and client network.
“Adel will play an important role in introducing our JV’s competencies and service offerings to the market in close collaboration with our local partner Al-Khaldi”, said Bertling.
CEO Colin MacIsaac added: “Saudi Arabia’s Beyond Oil programme is critical for the diversification (especially in non-oil sectors), modernisation and well-being of the local business environment and society.
“The empowerment and employment of nationals (including women), the expansion of the private sector as well as the ease of doing business in the country and the increased support of local suppliers and partners are key of the kingdom’s future vision and also anchored in the ambitions of our JV company.”
