Gonzalo Hernandez to lead Asia Pacific sales team at Delta Cargo

Delta Cargo has announced a shake-up of its team, with new appointments in Asia Pacific and the Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (EMEAI) region.

Gonzalo Hernandez (pictured) today becomes general manager – cargo sales for Asia Pacific. He will manage the cargo sales functions for Japan, Korea and South-east Asia, including the cargo business for Delta’s joint venture partnership with Korean Air.

He replaces Eric Anderson, who has returned to Atlanta to take up the position of director of cargo strategy, alliances and technology.

Mr Hernandez, who joined Delta Cargo in 2009, has been in Amsterdam for the past three years, managing cargo sales for EMEAI.

Jonathan Corbi, who is based in Atlanta, will become interim general manager for the EMEAI region. He has been with Delta for nine years, most recently leading the Delta Cargo Charter team from Atlanta during the Covid-19 crisis.

“Gonzalo, Eric and Jon bring a wealth of experience to their new roles having all worked in the business for a number of years,” said Eric Wilson, managing director global sales.

Delta Cargo has also told customers it has embargoed all cargo going through Chicago O’Hare, which has been beset by congestion problems in recent weeks. Effective immediately, the ban will remain until further notice.

Only westbound charter flights from London Heathrow (LHR) and westbound flights from/eastbound flights to Frankfurt (FRA) are exempt from the embargo.  The carrier told customers that freight will be stored in the warehouse and processed after operations have restarted, but storage fees have been waived from 29 June.
