NORTHAMPTON, UK – 5 November 2019 — XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions, has expanded its network in Spain with the opening of a multimodal transport hub in Vigo (Galicia). The 3,000-square-meter site doubles the company’s facility space in Vigo to support customers in the province of Pontevedra.
The new site is equipped with 22 cross-docks to support XPO’s full range of domestic and international freight transport, including less-than-truckload (LTL), groupage and full truckload, as well as last mile service. XPO’s last mile service specializes in the home delivery and installation of heavy or bulky goods, such as furniture, appliances and large electronics.
Massimo Marsili, managing director, transport – Iberia, XPO Logistics, said, “We’re delighted to expand our last mile service in Spain with the launch of our Galicia hub. We’re using our extensive last mile expertise to help retail and e-commerce customers build loyalty through a superior consumer experience. In addition, we now have a larger springboard for increasing capacity across the many other sectors we serve.”
XPO has three hubs in Galicia, serving more than 1,000 customers in diverse industries, notably in the food and beverage and automotive sectors. The company is the LTL market leader in Spain, with 60 sites managing the transport of over 4 million pallets per year. All of XPO’s sites in Spain consume 100% renewable electricity as part of the company’s commitment to sustainability.
