Volkswagen has entered into a multi-year agreement with Amazon Web Services to build a cloud platform for managing the German automaker’s manufacturing plants and supply chain. According to Business Insider, the new platform will integrate more than 30,000 facilities and some 1,500 supply chain partners. The cloud-based platform will provide real-time manufacturing data and help to improve efficiency margins but underscoring areas of weakness within the supply chain.
