Seen The Wire? Well, fact and fiction are becoming increasingly alike, according to police in the Netherlands and Belgium. Hacking into the port of Antwerp’s IT system enabled drug gangs to remove entire containers from the port, unnoticed, in a plot which began in 2011. Shipping containers are now integral to the drug trafficking business, and with only some 2% inspected, it’s an effective way of moving illegal goods, say police.
