A public consultation on a planned £100m expansion of Tilbury Port has been called for 6 March. The Halstead Gazette reports that if the plans for the new terminal, Tilbury2, receive the go-ahead, several hundred jobs could be created. However, local councillor Bukky Okunade, who represents Tilbury Riverside and Thurrock Park Ward, is urging residents to attend the consultation and weigh up the positives – more jobs and improved infrastructure – against the potential negatives, including the potential for reduced air and water quality.
