From its revival of Wilmington, Ohio, still reeling from the job losses after DHL pulled out, to its plans for almost instant delivery, Amazon has changed the world of retail – and now logistics. As Deutsche Bank notes, for Amazon, logistics is just “one giant maths exercise”. It has “hundreds of PhD mathematicians” who spend their days optimizing logistics. A threat, or an opportunity?
