After a police investigation, new revelations have been made about the 140kg of cocaine discovered in seven crates of bananas by supermarket employees in Berlin. The Colombian cocaine, smuggled aboard Maersk Niteroi, was initially bound for Rotterdam but after the ship was delayed for six days due to stormy weather, the intended receiver of the narcotics refused to pick up the packages. The ship – with the drugs still on board – then continued on to Hamburg where the banana crates were sold and distributed further.
