As Damco announces it has launched two VGM services, Maersk CCO Vincent Clerk argues, in a blog post, that the shipping lines must “up their game”. He notes that the SOLAS requirements will improve safety, but the implementation of VGM on a global level must be improved. He also, rather presciently, given what shippers said this morning in Hamburg, wrote that the lines must “provide customers with the contemporary service they expect”.
